How to Integrate WPForms and ActiveCampaign For Your WordPress?

Note that ActiveCampaign is available for WPForms Elite only. Therefore, you will need to upgrade to the elite package before integrating it.

Step 1: Install and Activate the ActivateCampaign Addon

The very first thing to do is to install and activate ActiveCampaigm Addon. As said earlier, you need to sign up for WPForms elite package to get access to ActiveCampaign. After signing up, go to WPForms, click on Addons and search ActiveCampaign addon. Click on install on locating the addon. You can activate or deactivate the addon by clicking on the status toggle beside the addon status.

Step 2: Create and Configure your Form

After activating ActiveCampaign, you can go ahead and start creating your forms. To create a new form, go to WPForms and click on Add New. Setup screens will appear where you will need to name the form. After identifying your form, click on Newsletter Signup Form. A simple form will be created. You can customize the form as you wish through drag and drop.

Step 3: Add GDPR Agreement Field

GDPR Agreement field helps you create a compliant form. The form gives your site visitors an option to agree with your storing of their personal information, which you might use later to send them promotional emails.

To add a GDPR Agreement field to your form, go to settings from WPForms and check the GDPR Enhancement checkbox. From the settings field, you can also enable or disable user cookies, the storing of user details and IP address and user agent on all forms.

Step 4: Connect Your Form to ActiveCampaign

The other step after creating a simple newsletter form and adding the necessary fields is to connect it with ActiveCampaign. To join, click on Marketing, then ActiveCampaign. On the box that appears, click on Add New Account. A conversational box will appear. You will need to fill each field with the necessary ActiveCampaign account info before proceeding. On the domain named;

  • ActiveCampaign Account Name – Enter the name of your account. You can enter any name you like.
  • ActiveCampaign API URL and Key – On this field, you need to enter a unique API and key of the account you need to connect with your form. Note that each account has a unique key. To get the API and the Key of your account, you have to log in to your ActiveCampaign account and click on Settings. From the menu that appears, click on Developer and copy the API and the Key below the Developer Settings. Paste them to the ActiveCampaign API URL and Key fields, respectively.
  • Event Tracking Account ID and Key – This field is optional. To get the Account ID and the Key, click on settings, from your ActiveCampaign account, then Tracking and turn ON the status toggle. Copy the event key that appears, and paste it to the respective field, and then click on the Event Tracking API link. Copy the numbers only, that appears with a text beside the term “actid” and paste them to the Event Tracking Key field and click on the Save button.

After filling all the fields, click on the Add button to connect your form with AtiveCampaign.

Step 5: Configure Your ActiveCampaign Form

The second last step from publishing your form is to set up your ActiveCampaign form. To set up, enter a name for your form and click on the OK button. Another settings menu with more fields will appear. You will require to fill-in each area. For example, under the domain named Select Account, choose the ActiveCampaign you have connected, under the Action to Perform field, you will select the action that should be taken when a user fills your form.

Step 6: Publish Your ActiveCampaign Form to Your WordPress Website

After setting up your ActiveCampaign form, the last thing to do is to publish it to your WordPress website. You can add your form on either web page, blog post, or sidebar widget. On this guide, we will publish on a web page. To add, got to the page you want to add on and click inside the page. In the search box that appears, type in “WPforms.” Click on Add WPForms and select your simple newsletter form and click on the publish button.
